ED HELPS FIX IT •

Hi there, this is Edward the Sound Guy. If you’re here, chances are you have some vocal audio files that you need help with. I’m here to let you borrow a slice of my 25+ years of experience in professional audio production environments by helping make your stuff sound better.

  • "Edward has been an amazing person to bounce ideas off of. My path into audio and recording was kind of odd so even though I've dived deep into some aspects of it, I've got some big gaping holes in other areas. Edward has always been super patient with me, even when I'm falling into one of those holes. His enthusiasm for trying new stuff, including some fairly harebrained DIY microphone builds, is just fantastic. Even when he's talking to someone else, I always learn a ton just by listening in to the conversation. I count myself fortunate to know him."

    Tom Benedict

  • "As far as audio goes, Edward is one of the most knowledgable people I have ever met, and there has yet to be an issue I have seen him unable to resolve. As far as non-audio goes, that's another story."

    Bandrew Scott, Podcastage

  • "Edward saved the day. 50+ voice actors across 5 continents, and they all needed to sound like they were in the same room. Couldn't have happened without him."

-H.M. Radcliff, Dir. The Madness of Chartrulean (Podcast)

  • "Edward has an amazing ability to take something super-complicated, simplify it so you understand it and then get you to break it to see what else it can do. He encourages a fearless curiosity in approaching audio where the failures are as important as the successes and the whole thing is a bit of an adventure. Not only has he helped me fix my audio but he's also made it more fun."

    The Forgotten Times#9643

  • "I struggled for years trying to understand Reaper and as helpful as online tutorials are, there's nothing like being able to ASK a person your questions. I am beyond grateful for Ed's generosity with knowledge...my latest project's sound quality VASTLY improved. Thanks Ed!"

    Sister Indica, Rogue Nun Productions

  • "In my experience, sound guys are often the smartest guys in the room, and yet the least likely to mention it. I'm honored to consider Edward Calvey my friend, and a not-so-secret weapon: he is the Genie to Aladdin, the Chewie to Han, the Baloo to Mowgli. I can say with certainty that all successes in my voice career can be directly attributed to his wisdom, wit, and an unrestrained love of charts."

ABOUT
Edward

Hey I am Edward and I press buttons on occasion. Still. A little bit. Don't really do anything important but trying to stay helpful in a world that seems to need it. Skip to the end from here.

In the ancient days of high adventure I was a technician that designed loudspeaker horns and systems. Beamforming, cancellation arrays, early pattern control work... low frequency stuff. Detection, communications. Psychological and perceptual stuff. Cognitive acoustical stuff.

I did measurement and validation of systems for a while, both on the prediction and measurement, and emergency "rescue" work on audio control systems, and briefly taught early FFT analysis with specific hardware.

Did some audio related work for friends in the music industry. Talking about yourself is supremely awkward.

I designed the control interfaces for some of the the earliest processor driven concert sound systems, and was unfortunately a sound guy for some time. You know, that really annoying guy that thinks he is cool.

Can't think of much else now, but you were supposed to skip to the end anyway. Perhaps this is what trying to survive in the modern world looks like.

Thrilled to be here. If you need anything let me know.
